A harbour, as a starting point for this concept's creation, characterized as a “Transformation zone” is represented by a line, a meeting point of land and sea, used as an element which explores this melting pot type of space merging the two symbolic polar opposites.
The water represents the idea flow, transporting ideas and energies like waves splashing the transformation zone, upgrading and perfecting it, sending and emitting knowledge, creativity and culture.
The two separate poles achieve their full functionality only by merging and exchanging knowledge in the transformation zone. This project is an exploration of this phenomenon- a zone of freedom to form. This is the transformation zone- a place of free thinking, changes, revitalisation and creation.
The typography and the logotype represent polarity. The opposing poles, land and water communicate through exchange. The whole is embodied, at first dislocated and polarised, only to become whole with the poles communicating.
The communication space, a space of exchange, interaction, change and influence is built out of linear waves. The lines can represent a direction and a directed force, created by the positive pole and attracted by the negative. A visual solution of force lines and their rhythm show the importance of the harbour as the symbolic heart of the city.
