This collection of products is intended to be sold in sets allowing the user to build frames of different sizes, each one dictating the function of the chosen product. Larger frames can be used as room dividers or screens, with the largest combination of elements being over 180 x 180 cm, but also as a place to hold smaller things, a bulletin board, organizer, newspaper stand etc. The smaller configurations, the smallest being 50 x 50 cm retain all the functions of the larger ones but without the room dividing option. The frames can be hung on a wall, or stand on their own, mounted on a solid concrete base, horizontally or vertically, giving over 25 different forms of the product. By making all the parts compatible with one another, production of less parts is possible, thus making the final price of the product significantly lower.
The product system itself started as a school project on our second year, concerning exclusive design. Every student worked for a colleague, considering his needs and wishes and forming it into a real product. The second part was to adapt the exclusive product for public needs, finding and adding functions that were not needed before, and removing the ones that were specific for just our "client".
This product for the unknown user is selected from 10 pre made packages, each one including the same elements, but in different sizes. The skeleton is made from square aluminium pipes connected with L-shaped elements to each other. Elastic lycra-like fabric is stretched over the frame and fixed with small rubber holders. In order to use same elements in different products, there are three different lenghts of pipes, and three different sizes for the fabric. The great thing with this kind of elastic fabrics is that it can be more loose on a smaller frame, or more tightly stretched on a larger one. Different levels of stretching give different levels of transparency to the material.
